About the role
- Conseiller.ère principal.e supporting claims in E&O D&O specialized insurance growth at Intact. Engaging with clients to manage legal liability claims effectively.
Responsibilities
- Listen to the client, clearly explain the claims process, answer their questions, and deliver service that exceeds their expectations
- Analyze the client's insurance coverages and clearly explain which protections apply to the presented claim
- Assess the potential liability of the insured and/or third parties, supporting conclusions with relevant, well-documented investigative evidence
- Evaluate the reasonableness and compensability of damages claimed against the insured
- Communicate effectively with the client to inform them of developments
- Maintain clear file notes and documentation in accordance with company standards and guidelines
- Negotiate claims effectively, where appropriate
- Ensure prudent management of expenses and external costs
- Actively collaborate with underwriting, distribution, litigation, and brokers
- Participate in catastrophe response when incidents occur
- Attend settlement conferences and trials
- Keep knowledge up to date and contribute to colleagues' development
Requirements
- College diploma (DEC) and/or equivalent or relevant training
- DEC in Insurance / Bachelor's degree in Law (asset)
- Hold a valid AMF 5a licence
- 3 to 5 years' experience as an E&O/D&O claims specialist or equivalent experience
- Bilingual (French / English) — Regular requirement to handle claims files for English-speaking clients
