About the role
- Experienced attorney supporting Huntington’s Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team in financing transactions. Advising on legal and regulatory matters while partnering with various departments.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to CRE leadership
- Support and advise CRE on structuring, documentation and servicing commercial real estate financing transactions
- Establish and maintain forms and procedures governing external counsel support of CRE
- Advise CRE specialty lending verticals
- Advise Operations colleagues on issues arising in customer onboarding, document preparation, loan closing, and loan servicing for CRE customers
- Partner with Risk, Credit, Operations, Technology and Compliance colleagues regarding operational and regulatory risk and control issues
- Advise the business with respect to new products and services and related legal and regulatory matters
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups
- Work in partnership with other members of the Commercial Legal Team to establish best practices across all Huntington Commercial Bank businesses
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree and JD required
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state/jurisdiction
- A minimum of 10 years of law firm or in-house legal department experience advising financial institutions
- Substantial experience advising commercial real estate financing transactions and related legal issues
- Proficient in handling a large number of issues and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact effectively and professionally at all levels.
