About the role

Responsibilities
- Serve as the senior legal partner to leadership and internal teams, providing definitive legal strategy and risk assessment for local operations.
- Act as the primary liaison for local authorities, lead high-level negotiations and ensure strategies align with evolving labor laws.
- Lead the drafting, negotiation, and final approval of high-value commercial agreements and complex employment structures, ensuring total alignment with Maltese Law, EU Directives, and global corporate governance.
- Conduct sophisticated legal analysis to provide actionable legal opinions on complex business initiatives.
- Own the lifecycle of corporate documentation and board resolutions, implement rigorous internal controls to eliminate bottlenecks and ensure executive-level accountability.
Requirements
- Significant experience practicing as an In-House Counsel or Senior Associate, specifically within the FinTech, Payments, or iGaming sectors.
- Deep understanding of Maltese Employment Law and Regulatory Compliance.
- Native or professional fluency in Maltese and English is mandatory, with the ability to draft legal agreements and negotiate in both languages.
- Experience selecting and implementing LegalTech solutions to drive departmental efficiency.
- Ability to manage senior stakeholders and drive project completion.
- Nice to Have Law Degree or equivalent degree
- Experience in scale-up environments where work volume and regulations shift rapidly
