About the role

  • Senior Staff Accountant focusing on real estate development primarily in the low-income housing tax credit industry. Contributing to financial reporting and risk mitigation in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Generate monthly development budgets and compare actual to budget
  • Generate monthly financial statements
  • Maintain various schedules for land deposits
  • Facilitate the flow of information to the auditors for year-end audits, 10% test report, cost certification, and tax returns
  • Prepare monthly pre-development budget for various seed projects (20+)
  • Review accounting entries to numerous registers, journals, and logs
  • Follow the Companys established accounting processes
  • Review accounts payable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the invoice creation and entry
  • Perform bank reconciliations as required
  • Regularly maintain detailed reconciliations of all balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare documentation for external auditors
  • Work with developers to ensure construction draws are paid in a timely manner
  • Provide detailed analysis and explanations of all transactions

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience
  • 4+ years experience in construction/real estate development accounting
  • Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations
  • Proficiency and aptitude for general accounting software programs, including Microsoft Office, Sage/Timberline, Office Connector, Yardi and Onesite
  • Intermediate to Advance Excel skills preferred
