About the role

  • Control and Protection Engineer at Hitachi Energy designing and maintaining control systems for high-voltage substations. Collaborating with project teams to ensure reliable operation of electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop control and protection schemes for substations, including relay settings, logic diagrams, and single-line diagrams, adhering to international and company standards.
  • Prepare technical specifications, equipment lists, and bid documents for control and protection systems and associated components.
  • Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of control and protection equipment on-site, ensuring compliance with design specifications and safety protocols.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex control and protection system malfunctions, implementing effective corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and internal teams to define project requirements, provide technical support, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and standards within the control and protection domain.
  • Stay abreast of new technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes in power system control and protection.
  • Provide technical training and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in the design, engineering, and commissioning of control and protection systems for high-voltage substations or power generation.
  • Strong understanding of power system principles, fault analysis, and protection relaying concepts (e.g., distance protection, differential protection, overcurrent protection).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team environment and interacting with clients.
  • Fluency in Portuguese (written and spoken) is required; proficiency in English is a significant advantage.
  • Availability for occasional travel to project sites.
