About the role

  • Bridge Planning Engineer with a focus on hydrotechnical engineering and bridge design for Alberta Transportation. Engaging in standards development and providing technical input on projects.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the development of standards, guidelines, and tools related to bridge conceptual design and hydrotechnical engineering
  • Providing technical input during conceptual design phase and bridge construction projects
  • Assessing existing bridges to determine optimal life cycle strategies
  • Supporting hydrotechnical and river engineering aspects of highway construction
  • Integrating bridge requirements into highway functional plans and roadway design standards
  • Participating in flood response operations

Requirements

  • University degree in Civil Engineering or related
  • Minimum 5 year’s experience in the hydrotechnical engineering and bridge geometrics
  • Familiarity with river engineering processes, hydraulics design of bridges and culverts
  • Familiarity with river protection work design, fish passage designs
  • Class 5 drivers license or equivalent plus clear driver abstract
