About the role

  • Director of Sales responsible for statewide growth strategy in California’s public sector IT solutions market. Leading business development efforts and expanding manufacturer partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop & Execute Statewide Sales Strategy
  • Build and implement a comprehensive sales strategy to expand GigaKOM’s SLED footprint
  • Identify high-growth verticals and priority accounts across California
  • Establish multi-year growth plans aligned with revenue and margin targets
  • Monitor competitive landscape and adjust strategy as needed
  • Drive Revenue & Market Expansion
  • Develop and manage a strong statewide sales pipeline
  • Secure high-value contracts and long-term strategic agreements
  • Expand market share within K–12, higher education, and state/local government
  • Support large RFP responses and strategic bid initiatives
  • Lead & Develop the Sales Organization
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage Account Executives and sales support staff
  • Establish performance metrics, accountability standards, and growth plans
  • Foster a high-performance, collaborative sales culture
  • Provide coaching on complex deal strategy and executive engagement
  • Strengthen Executive & Vendor Relationships
  • Build and maintain relationships with Superintendents, CIOs, IT Directors, and procurement leaders
  • Develop strategic partnerships with top manufacturers and distributors
  • Collaborate with Sales Engineering and Operations to ensure seamless delivery
  • Represent GigaKOM at industry events, conferences, and association meetings
  • Executive Reporting & Performance Oversight
  • Provide regular sales performance reports and forecasts to executive leadership
  • Analyze pipeline health, conversion metrics, and revenue trends
  • Ensure accurate CRM reporting and sales forecasting
  • Align sales initiatives with company financial objectives

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in IT sales with strong focus on SLED
  • 5+ years in a sales leadership or management role
  • Proven success growing revenue and closing high-value public sector deals
  • Strong understanding of enterprise networking, infrastructure, and IT solutions
  • Deep knowledge of California public sector procurement processes
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively within California
  • Established relationships within California K–12 and government agencies (preferred)
  • Experience managing vendor and manufacturer partnerships (preferred)
  • Experience leading complex RFP and bid strategies (preferred)
  • Background working with enterprise networking platforms (Cisco, HPE-Aruba, Extreme, etc.) (preferred)
