About the role
- Solar Project Manager overseeing full lifecycle of solar installations from planning to execution. Responsible for schedules, budgets, safety protocols, and customer communication.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage detailed project schedules (Gantt charts), budgets, and work scopes.
- Plan and coordinate electrical shutdowns and crane lift activities, ensuring safety, timing, and communication are optimized.
- Monitor project progress to ensure milestones and deadlines are met.
- Maintain accurate job costing records using FSG systems (COINS, Job Intelligence).
- Write and issue purchase orders for equipment, services, and subcontractors.
- Create and submit invoices to customers aligned with project milestone completions.
- Track and approve vendor and contractor invoices, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Maintain financial accuracy throughout the project lifecycle and proactively resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with internal crews, subcontractors, engineers, and vendors to ensure successful field execution.
- Conduct regular site visits to verify progress, quality, and safety.
- Uphold and enforce strict safety standards to ensure all work is OSHA-compliant.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare and publish regular customer reports with updates on progress, risks, and budget.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through transparent communication and proactive problem-solving.
- Manage all project documentation including permits, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout packages.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
Requirements
- 3+ years experience managing solar, electrical, or construction projects.
- Strong understanding of shutdown procedures, crane lift planning, and construction workflows.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, procurement, and field teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, Excel, and project management tools.
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience in solar operations, project management, or construction finance.
- Experience in renewable energy, electrical contracting, or construction industries.
- Familiarity with solar project workflows, permitting, and interconnection processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Finance, or a related field.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- PMP or NABCEP Certification.
- Experience with EV charging, battery storage, or microgrid systems.
