Senior Loan Consultant responsible for originating, managing, and coordinating the closing of consumer residential loans. Analyzing applicant creditworthiness and educating clients on loan products.
Responsibilities
Originate and manage a pipeline of mortgage loans from application to closing, ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures and industry regulations.
Stay informed about market trends, changes in the industry and regulatory updates to maintain a competitive edge and ensure compliance.
Advise borrowers on financial status, explain mortgage terms in detail, and structure loan packages to fit individual needs.
Provide exceptional customer service throughout the loan process, addressing inquiries through assigned branch offices, and resolving issues promptly and professionally.
Evaluate complex loan applications, credit history, and financial documents.
Responsible for visiting assigned branches and conducting regular branch staff training sessions along with the Residential Lending team.
Maintain consistent communication with branch staff, department personnel, borrowers and management as needed to ensure clear communication throughout the loan process.
Work closely with processing and underwriting teams to coordinate the verification of financial documents, credit reports, and asset statements, to accelerate the approval process.
Requirements
Minimum ten years loan origination and loan pricing experience.
Working knowledge of: Regulation Z / Truth In Lending Act (TILA) Regulation X / Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) Regulation B / Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA) Regulation V / Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Regulation C / Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) Regulation G / Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act ( SAFE Act)
Fair Lending: ECOA, Fair Housing Act, California Holden Act, and California Unruh Act
Basic underwriting, compliance, and agency product knowledge.
Knowledge of all types of loan documentation.
MLO Requirement: Maintaining an active loan originator ID issued through the National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) Registry is a mandatory requirement of this position.
