About the role

  • Legal Intern assisting the Florence Project in all aspects of immigration advocacy. Supporting legal representation for indigent immigrant clients in various legal contexts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of legal advocacy including 'Know Your Rights' presentations
  • Conduct individual intakes and pre-court counseling sessions
  • Assist in direct client work, application preparation, and drafting of client declarations
  • Research novel issues and legal memorandum writing

Requirements

  • Currently attending law school in pursuit of a juris doctor (JD)
  • Have completed at least one year of study by the first date of the internship
  • Demonstrated commitment to advocating for indigent immigrant clients in a respectful and empowering way
  • Strong legal research
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Highly organized, an innovative thinker
  • Proven computer skills
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
