Responsibilities

• Lead the vision, strategy, and design direction for Expedia’s AI-powered Search experience
• Define how travelers express their wants and how results are curated
• Partner with senior leaders to shape long-term search strategy
• Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing design team
• Scale design standards across surfaces and brands
• Foster a strong design culture grounded in clarity, critique, and curiosity
• Collaborate across Expedia Group to align with broader AI strategy
• Represent the traveler in strategic forums and influence decisions

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in product design
• At least 4 years leading design teams at scale
• Expertise in search, discovery, or recommendation systems
• Deep understanding of AI and ML shaping relevance, ranking, and explainability
• Proven track record of designing experiences that simplify complex information
• Skilled in translating ambiguous technical opportunities into clear product experiences
• Adept at building, scaling, and coaching design teams that deliver at craft and strategic levels
• Exceptional communicator through strong storytelling and influence
