About the role

• Intern or Working Student in Backend Software Development at etalytics, developing backend features for AI-powered energy management solutions. Collaborating within a hybrid work environment in Darmstadt, Germany.

Responsibilities

• As an Intern or Working Student in Backend Development, you will play an active role in advancing our etaONE Energy Intelligence Platform.
• Together with our skilled development team, you will expand your technical skills through mentoring, code reviews, and an active developer community.
• Stay up to date with Spring Boot and related technologies.
• Design and develop backend features using modern frameworks and tools such as Spring Boot (Java/Kotlin), Hibernate, Git, Gradle, PostgreSQL, MQTT, and Docker.
• Support the development of new product and solution ideas — bring in your own creative suggestions, solution approaches, and technologies to the process.
• Ensure high code quality standards through test automation with JUnit, Mockito / MockK, test-driven development, and static code analysis.

Requirements

• Ongoing or completed studies in Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a comparable field.
• Strong interest in writing high-quality, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Willingness and ability to learn quickly and work independently.
• Motivation to take responsibility and build sustainable software solutions.
• Very good English skills are required; German is a plus.
