About the role
- Network Engineer designing and maintaining the company's network infrastructure for optimal performance and security. Collaborating with IT teams and participating in on-call rotations while providing tier 2/3 support.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy network solutions including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues to ensure maximum uptime
- Perform routine maintenance, updates, and patches on network equipment
- Maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, configurations, and procedures
- Manage network capacity planning and recommend infrastructure improvements
- Implement and maintain network security measures including firewalls, VPNs, and access controls
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Respond to security incidents and implement remediation measures
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Provide tier 2/3 technical support for network-related issues
- Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and partners on projects and initiatives
- Lead or contribute to network infrastructure projects and upgrades
- Recommend new technologies and solutions
- Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering or administration
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Experience with enterprise-level network environments
- Knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS)
- Proficiency with network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Arista, or Palo Alto
- Experience with network monitoring and management tools
- Understanding of network security principles and best practices
- Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation
- Certifications CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent certification preferred
- Additional certifications (CompTIA Network+, JNCIA, or security certifications) preferred.
