About the role

  • Personnel Security Assistant managing applicants entrance documentation for the Dept. of Education. Reviewing security documents, processing notices, and providing reporting metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Administer applicants entrance documentation into e-QIP for new, upgraded, or periodic reinvestigations to include but not limited to fingerprints, legal notices, and credit checks
  • Review security questionnaires and supplemental documents for completeness and accuracy, using various security systems such as e-QIP, NP2 portal, and CVS/PIPS
  • Process and respond to DCSA (Defense Counterintelligence Security Agency) notices
  • Attend meetings as required with security staff to coordinate activities with function-specific personnel
  • Provide weekly reporting metrics as determined by case assignments
  • Maintain confidentiality of all work processes and products
  • Update internal spreadsheet, document all cases in Dept systems
  • Prepare corrective feedback to applicants for resolution

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in a personnel security
  • Ability to effectively communicate both in writing and verbally
  • Ability to exercise independent technical and professional judgment in the area working
  • Commitment to quality; continuous improvement oriented
  • If necessary, be able to multi-task, yet be attentive to details
  • Be a team player and be willing to take ownership for the quality of services and work products
  • Be flexible and able to quickly adapt to the dynamic and evolving operating environment
