About the role

  • Data and Insights Analyst responsible for delivering analytics and insights for the Insurance division at Collinson. Working with data to drive decision-making and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and continuously optimise Power BI reports and dashboards in line with documented business requirements, delivering high-quality, meaningful analytics that enable informed decision-making across Collinson Insurance.
  • Act as a key point of contact between business functions and the Insights team, gathering, validating and translating stakeholder needs into practical reporting solutions.
  • Safeguard data integrity by ensuring surfaced data is accurate, well-defined and fit for purpose. Oversee and validate any additional Insight-led transformations, ensuring they are thoroughly tested and standardised across stakeholder groups.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering and Product teams to validate new data ingestions, ensuring alignment with reporting and analytical requirements.
  • Proactively identify and escalate data quality or modelling issues, driving swift resolution through cross-functional coordination.
  • Support quality assurance activities for reporting deliverables, assisting in reviewing solution designs, checking adherence to established standards and contributing to regression testing to help maintain reliable and accurate reporting products.
  • Co-ordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for reporting products, ensuring that reports and data outputs meet business expectations and function effectively in production scenarios.
  • Collaborate across business and delivery teams—including Underwriting, Finance, Actuarial, Compliance, Delivery and Engineering—to embed insights into core processes and drive successful deployment, adoption and value realisation.
  • Contribute to the evolution of reporting standards and best practices, helping define templates, data dictionaries, governance principles and development guidelines that uplift data maturity across Collinson Insurance.
  • Champion a self-service analytics culture by delivering training, clear documentation and ongoing stakeholder engagement, ensuring teams can confidently access and apply insights in their work.
  • Provide clear, engaging updates and demonstrations to key stakeholders and Insurance Technology squads, maintaining transparency of progress, priorities and value delivered.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging tools and advancements in data analytics and visualisation, ensuring the organisation benefits from modern, innovative and future-ready reporting practices.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in Power BI (data modelling, DAX, Power Query, creating compelling visualizations).
  • Strong SQL and/or Python capability for querying, validating, profiling and troubleshooting complex datasets used in reporting and analytics.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets, including transformed and standardised data structures within data lake or warehouse environments.
  • Excellent requirements-gathering skills, with the ability to challenge, clarify and translate business questions into precise analytical and reporting specifications.
  • Familiarity with project management processes such as Scrum, Kanban and Waterfall.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to understand underlying business problems and define concise insight needs.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, ideally within insurance or regulated environments (e.g., Finance, Actuarial, Underwriting, Compliance).
