About the role

  • Paralegal providing legal and administrative support at Exeter Finance. Assisting attorneys with case files and coordinating litigation while ensuring compliance and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Provides legal and administrative support to attorneys by preparing routine documents, maintaining case files, and assisting in the coordination of litigation and legal requests
  • Ensures accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable laws and internal policies while supporting efficient workflow within the legal department
  • Support litigation case management by organizing and maintaining case files, updating records, and preparing routine documents under the direction of senior paralegals or attorneys
  • Assists with scheduling and deadline tracking by updating calendars, monitoring key dates, and coordinating routine communications
  • Perform administrative tasks including document assembly, data entry, formatting correspondence and maintaining department logs and reports
  • Process legal invoices and track billing activity to support accurate and timely financial coordination
  • Support subpoena and legal request responses by gathering documents and ensuring timely submissions in accordance with guidance provided
  • Conduct basic research and data collection to support departmental projects and ongoing litigation activities
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance in all work products in alignment with internal policies and legal standards
  • Other duties as assigned to support departmental operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree or Paralegal certification preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience in a legal support role and/or consumer finance servicing preferred
  • Familiarity with legal terminology, documentation, litigation and basic research tools
  • Solid written and verbal communication
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and efficiently with a wide variety of intracompany and external individuals and organizations
  • Solid organizational skills and attention to detail; adept in multitasking and managing a variety of simultaneous departmental, business and external demands
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point, etc.), Adobe, and related systems
  • Experience with legal matter-management and legal-invoicing platforms preferred
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with little supervision with high regard for personal integrity/ethics
  • Ability to work with and protect confidential and proprietary information.
