About the role

  • Senior Network Engineer responsible for designing and supporting enterprise and IoT network infrastructures for Bauer Media Outdoor. Focused on maintaining stable and secure operations while leveraging AI-assisted workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and support enterprise and IoT network infrastructure across on-prem, cloud, and edge environments.
  • Configure and operate Fortinet firewalls, Cisco Meraki SD-WAN, and secure VPN connectivity across multiple countries.
  • Build and maintain Azure networking components including vWAN, VNets, ExpressRoute, NSGs, and VPN Gateways.
  • Own secure connectivity for IoT endpoints, including 4G/5G modems, SIM provisioning, IMEI/IMSI tracking, and APN design.
  • Automate network provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management using Python, REST APIs, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Apply or learn AI-assisted automation and workflow orchestration, including AI MCP, to improve operational efficiency and predict issues before they happen.
  • Implement and operate network monitoring and observability platforms to ensure performance, visibility, and rapid fault detection.
  • Work in Agile mini-squads, contributing to sprint planning, delivery, and continuous improvement using Jira and Confluence.
  • Collaborate closely with security, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure reliable and secure connectivity end-to-end.
  • Maintain clear, version-controlled documentation, network diagrams, and change records.
  • Contribute to roadmap planning, network modernisation, and efficiency programmes

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, routing, and switching.
  • Proven experience designing, securing, and troubleshooting complex networks.
  • Comfortable working with Linux and Windows Server networking stacks.
  • Experience with wireless and cellular technologies such as Wi-Fi and 4G/5G.
  • Experience with IoT protocols including MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, CoAP, or AMQP.
  • Solid understanding of cellular connectivity, SIM lifecycle management, IMEI/IMSI, and public vs private APNs.
  • Experience integrating IoT gateways and devices securely into enterprise networks.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure networking, and exposure to AWS is a plus.
  • Familiarity with data and visualisation platforms such as Grafana, InfluxDB, or Power BI.
  • Comfortable working with APIs and message-based systems.
  • Strong grounding in network security, firewall rule design, and threat mitigation.
  • Understanding of security standards such as ISO 27001 and OWASP IoT Top 10.
  • Ability to script and automate using Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Experience or interest in Infrastructure as Code and Git-based workflows.
  • Curiosity and willingness to adopt AI-assisted operations and AIOps approaches.
  • Experience working in Agile teams with sprint-based delivery.
  • Comfortable managing work through Jira, Confluence, and version control.
  • Able to balance operational stability with long-term improvement.
