About the role

  • Research Analyst III responsible for researching human rights abuses and supporting visa-related policy at Cayuse. Analyzing developments in Ukraine and collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor human rights abuses in and associated with the crisis in Ukraine.
  • Conduct outreach and liaison work with relevant geographic bureaus and client regional desks, Consular Affairs, Government Stakeholders, and others.
  • Develop cases regarding the actions of foreign government officials and others who may be involved in or responsible for the commission of human rights abuses.
  • Support the application of INA 3C policies related to Ukraine, Russia, and/or Belarus through extensive open-source research.
  • Analyze human rights-related developments in and associated with the crisis in Ukraine.
  • Draft and edit written products related to the state of human rights in Ukraine, Russia, and/or Belarus, and provide periodic briefings to Department officials.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of State Department paper templates, direction, and expectations.
  • Secret Security Clearance is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Minimum Skills: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate in a clear, professional, and articulate manner.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high-level attention to detail.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to work well independently as well as on a multi-functional team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to process time and attendance via TATEL program
  • Ability to arrange for staff travel through the E2Solutions travel management software system.
  • Ability to support the deputy director and director in inputting yearly staff evaluations into the performance software system.
  • Ability to procure office supplies via Arriba system.
  • Ability to schedule meetings via Outlook.
  • Discretion and judgment in arranging diplomatic meetings including in-person.
  • General word-processing skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in political science, economics, public administration, business analytics, or a related field. Advanced degrees are preferred for specialized roles.
