About the role

  • Manager leading Treaty negotiations within the Victorian government's Treaty Negotiations and Strategy branch. Overseeing policy advice and managing a high-performing team.

Responsibilities

  • Work within the Treaty Negotiations and Strategy branch to lead key components of the State’s response to First Peoples’ Treaty aspirations.
  • Provide high quality policy advice and people management.
  • Commission, review and guide high quality products such as briefings, Cabinet Submissions, presentations, and research papers.
  • Build team capacity, manage professional development, and strengthen staff capabilities.
  • Report to the Senior Treaty Specialist, managing complex projects and providing strategic advice.

Requirements

  • A demonstrated ability to coordinate and lead a team of diverse policy advisers.
  • A demonstrated ability to initiate, manage and maintain close liaison and effective relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in leading and managing a high performing team grounded in a current and deep understanding of systemic State interactions with marginalised or vulnerable groups.
  • A highly developed ability to effectively supervise, with a high level of autonomy, a whole-of-government approach to Treaty in Victoria.
  • A demonstrated ability to lead a culturally safe, positive and collaborative organisational culture.
