Manager of Priority Communities managing multicultural program delivery at the Department of Premier and Cabinet. Leading engagement with stakeholders and supporting government priorities in Victoria.
Responsibilities
Manage a team in delivering high quality policy advice and program delivery to support newly arrived and priority multicultural communities.
Lead on engagement with the Commonwealth Government on settlement policies.
Support the delivery of other key Victorian Government priorities such as the Victorian African Communities Action Plan and relevant election commitments.
Engage with the Victorian Multicultural Commission, multicultural and settlement sector peak bodies, community organisations and intergovernmental representatives.
Lead complex multi-disciplinary projects and manage and develop a team in the preparation of high-quality briefs and written advice, including for the Minister for Multicultural Affairs and senior departmental executives.
Work closely with other managers across Multicultural Affairs and the wider department to ensure policy and program design aligns with portfolio priorities.
Maintain relationships with stakeholders within the multicultural community and settlement sectors.
Requirements
Demonstrated effective people management to support and create the conditions for a high functioning, productive and engaged team.
Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and leadership skills in addressing issues from the perspective of what the government requires and translating organisational strategy into meaningful long-term plans and objectives.
Strong written communication skills: prepares briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills with the ability to identify practical solutions to complex problems.
Demonstrated experience providing authoritative, high quality and timely advice on program and/or project design, implementation and evaluation in a dynamic and complex environment.
Strong interpersonal, representational and communication skills, including the ability to influence and negotiate effectively at all levels and a proven capacity to develop effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders and partners.
Desirable Experience in working with multicultural communities and organisations to deliver programs that provide impactful outcomes for communities in Victoria.
