About the role
- Senior Director of Corporate Development at Capital Power, leading opportunity origination and transaction evaluations across North America. Collaborating with cross-functional teams for strategic growth initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Identifying and monitoring market trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities across renewables, thermal generation, storage, and emerging technologies
- Building networks with developers, investors, bankers, and advisors to proactively source opportunities
- Leading evaluation of acquisitions, investments, and partnerships
- Conducting financial modeling, valuation, and scenario analyses
- Leading diligence processes and coordinating internal SMEs and external advisors
- Supporting negotiation of commercial agreements and transaction structures
- Preparing recommendations and materials for senior leadership and the Board
- Translating market, regulatory, and commercial signals into strategic implications and portfolio recommendations
- Leading cross‑functional workstreams with Finance, Legal, Operations, Strategy, and Regulatory
- Providing guidance to analysts and specialists involved in valuation and diligence
- Supporting the VP, Corporate Development & US Renewables with insights on risk, value, structure, and prioritization
Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 8–12+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, or project finance
- Required experience evaluating and executing transactions in energy, with a preferred experience in thermal power
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced financial modeling and valuation
- Experience working with cross‑functional teams and external advisors
