About the role

  • Director of National Accounts managing a team and key relationships in retail. Overseeing strategy and performance alignment with Bunzl’s corporate objectives

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of National Account Managers; set performance expectations and support professional growth;
  • Partner with the Senior Director to align account strategies, priorities, and performance objectives;
  • Oversee strategic management of large national retail accounts to drive revenue growth and profitability;
  • Guide development and execution of account plans, including pricing, contract support, and growth initiatives;
  • Maintain executive‑level relationships with key customer stakeholders and serve as a senior escalation point;
  • Drive margin improvement and financial performance in partnership with Revenue Management and Finance;
  • Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve customer issues, improve service levels, and manage operational challenges;
  • Ensure effective forecasting, inventory management, and working capital discipline across accounts;
  • Analyze performance metrics, market trends, and customer data to inform strategy and leadership reporting;
  • Support hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and expense management for the account team.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in national account management or strategic sales leadership, preferably in distribution or retail supply
  • Proven experience leading and developing high‑performing sales or account management teams
  • Strong understanding of pricing strategy, margin management, and financial performance metrics
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex national customer relationships and cross‑functional initiatives
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and executive‑level relationship management skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and strategic thinking abilities
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, sales reporting tools, and Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
  • Collaborative leadership style with a strong team‑oriented mindset.
