About the role

  • Serving as primary relationship manager for Fidelity's 529 education savings plans. Engaging state sponsors to improve satisfaction and outcome for end customers.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary relationship manager for a subset of state sponsors, addressing recurring and ad-hoc needs, ensuring all plan sponsor requests are addressed, and keeping plan sponsors up to date on all relevant changes to the product or industry developments
  • Lead monthly and quarterly meetings with clients to review plan and investment performance
  • Take ownership, along with the 529 Product team to provide inputs into potential product enhancements based on feedback from state sponsors
  • Partner with Marketing team in state-level marketing plan development and ongoing adjustments
  • Coordinate and participate in state board meetings which include additional government representatives
  • Represent the state and programs in public appearances
  • Identify and build relationships with key decision-makers at target states to influence bid plans, more effectively prepare for upcoming RFPs and win new state plans
  • Partner with appropriate internal stakeholders to integrate 529 offerings in appropriate employer plans
  • Work with Investment management team to make adjustments to product offerings and updates
  • Increase Fidelity's leadership position within key industry organizations, including NAST, CSF and MSRB
  • Attend relevant industry conferences to build relationships and learn from industry peers and state plan sponsors, with potential speaking slots at industry conferences (e.g. alongside a current client)
  • Keep all customer-facing associates updated on latest 529 enhancements

Requirements

  • At least 3-5+ years of relationship management experience.
  • 5-7+ years of end-to-end product management experience is preferred.
  • A background in/experience with 529 plans would be a big plus but not required.
  • Executive level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both strategically and tactically as necessary.
