About the role

  • Laboratory Analyst Intern assisting Non-Metals TX-56 group with sample preparation, analysis, and research. Engaging in practical experiences while collaborating with customers and documenting laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Non-Metals TX-56 group interview customers for analysis needs.
  • Perform sample preparation for future analysis.
  • Conduct analysis using lab equipment.
  • Document results, including recommendation based on conversation with the customer.
  • Research, evaluate, and document equipment capabilities, limitations, and costs.
  • Create “best practice” guidelines for sample preparation, maintenance topics, and analysis results based on current lab equipment.
  • Merging measurement analysis with non-destructive equipment results (X-Ray and CT Scan).
  • Providing long-term business case strategy for future replacement financial planning.
  • ADM (Laboratory report documenting system).
  • PQM (Problem Solving Quality Management system).

Requirements

  • Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or similar degree.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Must be enrolled at a university outside of the United States.
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on the US grading scale.
  • Must have completed a prior BMW internship of at least 3 months in length.
  • Ability to work full-time on-site (40 hours/week).
  • Complete and pass a substance abuse test before the work term.
  • Must provide the following paperwork in English: Curriculum Vitae/Resume, Last University Performance Record, Cover letter (not required), Relevant references and certificates (not required).
