Senior Coastal Consultant for maritime consultancy delivering coastal and offshore design solutions. Managing projects while leading and collaborating with a diverse engineering team in Australia.
Responsibilities
Contribute to a diverse range of coastal and offshore projects by undertaking coastal hazard assessments, supporting planning and adaptation for coastal hazards, and/or designing coastal protection works for private and public sector clients.
Lead the design of coastal infrastructure across Australia including seawalls, revetments, breakwaters, groynes, jetties, marinas, wharves, boat ramps, and other coastal protection projects including beach nourishment.
Manage small to large scale projects and lead the engagement with the end client.
Be part of a cross-discipline team, working with other coastal engineers, maritime structures engineers, mechanical engineers, oceanographers, environmental scientists, naval architects, GIS and approvals specialists.
Be a technical leader in the coastal structures area, conducting internal reviews and contributing to continual improvement of quality practices.
Providing leadership and mentoring to less experienced team members.
Write proposals and provide support with business development and customer relationship management.
Requirements
A bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant area of study
Minimum 10 years’ experience post-graduation
Experience in either Coastal Structures Engineering, Coastal or Metocean Modelling, or Coastal Management.
**For modellers **– a working knowledge of industry standard metocean and coastal modelling software, including SWAN, Tuflow FV (or similar, e.g. DELFT-3D, MIKE21), XBeach and their application in informing coastal hazard understanding.
**For coastal structures designers** – a working knowledge of Australian and/or international standards and guidelines relevant to the design of coastal structures such as seawalls, revetments, breakwaters, groynes etc.
Experience in physical modelling of coastal structures is desirable but not essential.
Experience working within the engineering/consulting sector including experience with proposals and directly managing customers or external stakeholders
Relevant registration with recognised engineering/environmental body including an RPEV/RPEQ or the ability to obtain certification
Unrestricted and permanent work rights in Australia
