About the role

  • Deputy Plant Manager ensuring safe operation of facilities supporting defence programmes at Devonport Royal Dockyard. Leading a specialist team and overseeing compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the safe operation of critical infrastructure supporting national defence
  • Play a vital role in ensuring that the facilities supporting major defence programmes operate safely, securely and in line with strict regulatory requirements.
  • Join a specialist team responsible for maintaining the integrity of facilities that enable major submarine maintenance and docking activity.
  • Lead as a Duly Appointed Person, ensuring compliance with Site Licence Conditions, Authorisation Conditions and environmental permit requirements.
  • Support the development of 10 Dock, through design and construction, into nuclear operations.
  • Oversee the development of a plant safety case for a new facility and ensure all procedures, operational records and facility documentation are accurate and available when required.
  • Manage a small team, ensuring safe systems of work, functional oversight and robust operational discipline.
  • Maintain the facility’s design intent, enforcing Operating Rules, Operating Boundaries and Operating Instructions.
  • Oversee modifications to existing plant, and support installation and commissioning of new plant and systems.

Requirements

  • Experience of refitting or major docking periods of nuclear submarines.
  • Experience managing or operating within nuclear facilities.
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety case development and implementation.
  • Experience of design or construction activities on a Nuclear Licensed Site - Desirable
  • STEM degree or equivalent relevant experience in nuclear facilities management and operations.
  • Chartered Engineer status or can evidence working towards Chartered status.
  • Security Clearance - The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
