About the role

Responsibilities
- Applies engineering concepts and theories to deliver the development of designs, calculations and technical solutions for Babcock products and services across the Engineering Product Lifecycle
- Works independently with occasional supervision, seeking guidance for complex situations
- Develops learning, skills and experience within discipline/domain
- Provides mentoring to others
- Supports the Royal Navy Submarine Fleet across Structures, Naval Architecture, Seamanship, Outfitting, and Design Change disciplines
- Works on a wide range of projects involving submarine structures across the defence sector
- Conducts structural assessments using hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis
- Involves in design and assessment for explosive shock survivability
- Manages and assesses structural defects
- Engages in structural safety certification and support to future platform projects
Requirements
- Degree qualified in a STEM discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Interest in structural engineering
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A willingness to learn and develop your technical expertise
