About the role

  • Play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of mission-critical systems, supporting both UK defence and export customers.
  • Work on a variety of complex engineering projects, contributing to the development, assessment, and assurance of safety across the system lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain Safety Case Reports, including supporting analyses such as Hazard Analysis and Functional Failure Analysis, ensuring compliance with relevant standards (e.g., DEF STAN 00-56).
  • Conduct safety assessments and risk analyses for systems and subsystems.
  • Provide expert advice on safety engineering processes and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the integration of safety into system design and development activities and participate in design reviews, audits, and safety working groups.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including MOD clients, to ensure safety requirements are met.

Requirements

  • Experience in safety engineering within a high-integrity or regulated environment (e.g., defence, automotive, aerospace, rail or nuclear).
  • Familiarity with safety standards and legislation relevant to mission systems.
  • Good verbal and written communication, analytical, problem-solving skills and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Degree in Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer working towards Incorporated and Chartered Engineer.
  • The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
