About the role

  • Senior Manager overseeing data and information governance at Aviso, a leading wealth management firm. Driving strategic alignment and responsible data practices across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement a forward-thinking strategy that aligns Information Management and Data Governance with the overall Data & Analytics vision
  • Ensure our governance practices support data quality, analytics enablement, and AI readiness
  • Build, scale, and operationalize data and information governance capabilities, including lifecycle management, retention schedules, defensible disposition, and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., PIPEDA, Law 25)
  • Integrate RIM processes, policies, and controls into the enterprise data governance framework, ensuring seamless collaboration between data stewards, owners, and analytics teams
  • Embed principles of responsible data and AI use into governance practices, ensuring our clients’ trust is upheld in all data-driven initiatives
  • Support the responsible use of data in AI initiatives by establishing governance structures that ensure accuracy, transparency, and ethical considerations in AI models
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives, facilitate the Data Governance Council and associated working groups, and drive change management to embed Data and Information Governance practices into enterprise culture.
  • Oversee the deployment and adoption of governance and information management tools (e.g., Collibra, Purview, Databricks Unity Catalog, LeanIX), supporting data cataloging, data lineage, information classification, and metadata management.
  • Establish metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of integrated Data Governance and RIM efforts. Provide regular updates to leadership and continuously enhance frameworks based on business needs, emerging trends and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field is required combined with advanced professional certifications such as CDMP, CIPP, or AIGP
  • 8+ years of experience in Data & Analytics Governance, Information Management, Data Management, or a related field, including at least 3 years in a leadership or senior management role
  • Demonstrated success implementing enterprise data governance and RIM programs
  • Experience implementing governance practices that support the responsible use of AI, ensuring data integrity, fairness, and compliance
  • Deep understanding of governance best practices, including data cataloging, metadata management, data lineage, AI/ML model governance and RIM best practices
  • Familiarity with cloud ecosystems (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data architectures
  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements applicable to financial institutions, and their implications for data governance and RIM
  • Proficiency in data visualization and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to communicate governance progress and outcomes effectively
  • Fluent communication skills in English is required and bilingual skills in French is an asset
