About the role
- Fire Engineer developing fire safety solutions for diverse projects in multi-sector practice. Collaborating with teams, managing projects, and ensuring compliance with regulations in the UK.
Responsibilities
- Work in a range of sectors from residential buildings through to rail transportation or new energy facilities
- Manage multiple engineering projects from inception through to delivery in support of fire safety standards and codes
- Support the delivery of project work within time and cost budgets
- Keep up to date with regulations and legislation
- Develop fire engineering solutions on projects and ensure the fire engineering strategy is delivered
- Assess fire related risks in projects and work collaboratively to mitigate where possible
- Review and comment on the quality of fire safety related installations
- Undertake tenders for new work
- Prepare reports, take part in design team meetings, and liaise with client representatives as required
Requirements
- Engineering degree, preferably in fire engineering or alternatively a postgraduate qualification in fire engineering
- Strong record of successfully delivering fire safety projects – experience in other sectors strongly considered
- Experience with a range of fire standards including BS9999, NFPA 130, BS9992, EN45545
- Fire modelling experience will be beneficial
- Experience outside of the building sector would be advantageous
- Able to work towards Chartered Fire Engineer status
