Provide technical support to machine shop operations at Columbus McKinnon. Develop CNC programs, optimize manufacturing processes, and lead continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
Provide technical support to the machine shop pertaining to machines, processes, tooling, fixturing, programming, metrology, and overall troubleshooting.
Leads process improvement and cost reduction initiatives, including the application of lean manufacturing principles such as setup reduction.
Develop and optimize CNC programs and associated tooling for machine tools with Fanuc, Okuma OSP, and Mazatrol controllers.
Ability to analyze, specify, and bring to full production machinery in the most cost efficient manner, including the selection and implementation of new capital equipment.
Develop, evaluate, improve, and document manufacturing processes, including determination of the most effective raw materials, establishing bills of material, and specifying routings.
Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations, high quality, on time delivery, and lowest possible cost.
Compiles and analyzes production, maintenance, and operational information to determine causes of operating or production problems and uses to implement solutions.
Design and develop manufacturing processes and equipment, related fixtures, and tooling that help achieve short lead times, quick change over, zero defects, and low production costs.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field.
Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Ability to work independently, multi-task, and coordinate activity within cross-functional teams.
Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, understanding and utilize metrology and geometric tolerancing, and measure complex parts.
Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and lean manufacturing.
Proficiency with Microsoft software applications.
Proficiency in CAM software, preferably Mastercam.
Experience with hobbing and shaping gear cutting processes and associated part measurement.
Project management skills, including initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing.
