About the role

  • Assistant Resident Engineer supporting sustainability initiatives for the Gateway Hudson Tunnel Project. Help deliver excellence on one of the most complex infrastructure initiatives in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with REIM-focused sustainability workshops and design charrettes for project teams
  • Help refine and maintain sustainability specifications, checklists, and guidance documents
  • Assist in preparing training and educational materials in support of REIM’s goal of building capacity among the future workforce, small businesses, and other stakeholders
  • Attend construction management (CM) meetings and participate in periodic site visits
  • Support orientation sessions for CM teams and contractors on sustainability/REIM requirements
  • Assist in coordinating and tracking construction submittals, ensuring they are routed to the appropriate team members for review in alignment with REIM specifications
  • Help organize and track sustainability documentation provided by contractors in support of GDC’s Key Performance Indicators (KPI) dashboard
  • Assist in preparing submissions to the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Sciences, or related field (recent graduate or up to 1 year of experience)
  • Demonstrated interest in sustainability, green building, or infrastructure (coursework, internships, or research experience welcome)
  • Familiarity with LEED, Envision, or related frameworks preferred; interest in learning GDC’s REIM framework required
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to project management or data visualization tools a plus
