About the role

  • Assistant Cost Consultant supporting cost management assignments and collaborating with team members at Arcadis. Engaging in project tasks and developing technical expertise through structured training programs.

Responsibilities

  • Combine project related experiences with targeted learning and development to complete their development
  • Take ownership of distinct elements of cost management assignments, ensuring standards of delivery meet defined objectives
  • Role holders will work independently and will have a depth of technical knowledge and practical experience in their field
  • Collaborate with other team members and other disciplines to deliver project requirements
  • Undertake production checking, of work in progress to ensure that it meets project intent
  • Follows training plan for professional development, attend appropriate training events
  • Participate in Arcadis knowledge sharing activities
  • Work with a Mentor to develop technical excellence within a structured training programme
  • Contribute to cost management tasks including cost estimates, cost plans, and Bills of Quantities.
  • Interpret data and prepare supporting documentation such as schedules, feasibility studies and cost reports, making straightforward recommendations to support senior colleagues in their decision-making process
  • Take a proactive role in assessing and evaluating cost and commercial management processes, sharing knowledge, identifying opportunities and providing advice to help improve processes and systems
  • Apply technical methods and expertise to complete complex, professional level tasks as requested by colleagues, prioritising case load and interpreting established policies in order to effectively support the cost and commercial management function
  • Assist senior staff to resolve stakeholder issues by flagging issues as soon as they are encountered and suggesting appropriate solutions in order to contribute to client care to ensure ongoing client satisfaction

Requirements

  • Have a BSc Engg, Diploma in QS or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • At least 2-4 years of construction experience in consultancy or contracting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Can perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision
  • Awareness of sustainable development best practice
  • Experience in delivering analysis and insights
  • Technical knowledge in specialized field, including construction processes and/or cost and commercial management.
  • Advanced proficiency with desktop applications (e.g. MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
