About the role

  • Accounting Intern supporting finance department operations at Aqua Expeditions in Singapore. Assisting with financial transactions, reporting, and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Record and process invoices, payments, receipts, and journal entries accurately and on time.
  • Daily monitoring of collections and communication to internal sales and reservation team in a timely manner.
  • Weekly group cash and bank reporting to internal management.
  • Regularly reconcile bank statements with internal records, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrections as needed.
  • Support the accounting team in closing financial periods by compiling supporting documents, preparing necessary schedules, and ensuring all relevant transactions are captured.
  • Update and maintain the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers for accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and inventory.
  • Review and process employee expense claims in accordance with company policy, flagging inconsistencies or policy breaches for further review.
  • Compile requested documents and assist external auditors during audits.
  • Assist in routine financial reports for internal management, including cash flow statements, profit and loss summaries, and balance sheets.
  • Oversee and reconcile petty cash transactions, ensuring proper documentation and authorization.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital and physical filing systems for supporting documentation.
  • Ensure all work complies with organizational financial policies, regulatory guidelines, and ethical standards.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and suggest improvements for greater efficiency and accuracy.

Requirements

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Oracle, SAP) and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Ability to analyze financial data, reconcile accounts, and identify errors or inconsistencies.
  • Exceptional accuracy in data entry and financial record-keeping.
  • Clear verbal and written communication abilities to work effectively with colleagues and management.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated honesty and ethical behavior when handling sensitive financial data.
  • Collaborative attitude and willingness to support other members of the finance team as needed.
