About the role

  • Accounting Specialist supporting financial leadership for budgeting and financial analysis at Intact. Collaborating with teams to improve processes and ensure compliance in financial controls.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the finance partner for assigned business units: produce monthly reports, analyze results versus budgets/forecasts, and explain variances
  • Prepare expense forecasts with regional teams, WFM and CDAT; support management in budgeting and complex analyses; provide recommendations
  • Support operations in performance monitoring and process improvement
  • Contribute to month-end close (journal entries, GL reconciliations)
  • Continuously improve financial systems and accounting processes; simplify, standardize, and strengthen controls
  • Ensure compliance and effectiveness of financial controls.

Requirements

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint and analytics tools (Power BI, Power Query); automation (e.g., Power Automate) and financial ERPs (e.g., SAP/Oracle) are significant assets
  • Quick learner, agile, highly organized; able to work independently and proactively in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills at all levels (regional teams and leadership); clear and concise
  • Knowledge of Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance is a strong asset
  • Bilingual (French/English) — required to interact regularly with colleagues across the country.
