Responsibilities
- Working on the South West Scheme Delivery Framework for National Highways
- Designing a strengthening scheme, completing maintenance refurbishments, or executing safety improvements
- Providing effective support and assistance to your Design Team Leader on a variety of highway structures schemes
- Taking the lead on projects and mentoring junior designers
- Producing technically sound engineering solutions
- Preparation and checking of designs, calculations, drawings and documentation
- Contributing to the preparation of bids and general work-winning functions
- Supporting effective health and safety practices within the team
Requirements
- Successful completion of a Degree Apprenticeship programme or an employer led early careers development programme
- Knowledge of structures design processes and procedures relevant to the civil engineering discipline
- Able to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements
- Experienced in following procedures associated with the management of health, safety and welfare
- Has knowledge and understanding of technical and specification processes
- Good competence with relevant software and similar analytical tools
- Has a basic understanding of CDM and risk assessment
- Experienced in the management and communication of hazards and risks on projects
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of the different interfaces on projects
- Bachelors or Masters degree in an appropriate subject
