About the role
- Procurement Officer handling procurement activities for Alberta’s Ministry of Justice. Supporting critical programs impacting public safety and access to justice.
Responsibilities
- Lead end ‑ to ‑ end procurement activities for a diverse range of goods and services, ensuring compliance with legislation, trade agreements, and ministry policies.
- Provide informed procurement advice to ministry stakeholders, helping define requirements, assess risks, and select effective procurement strategies.
- Develop and manage competitive procurement processes, including preparing RFx documents, supporting evaluations, and ensuring award recommendations are documented.
- Draft and finalize procurement contracts and amendments, ensuring terms are clear, enforceable, and compliant.
- Ensure accurate procurement documentation and maintain contract workspaces within the 1GX ERP system throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support continuous improvement by contributing to procurement policies, best practices, and process enhancements.
- Build strong relationships with internal clients, vendors, and cross‑government partners to support fair, transparent, and effective procurement.
Requirements
- University degree in a related field, such as Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or Education, and a minimum of 2 years’ experience in procurement is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience with public‑sector procurement or Government of Alberta procurement processes.
- Knowledge of RFx development, evaluation methodologies, and contract administration.
- Knowledge of trade agreements as they relate to the procurement of Goods and Services within the public sector.
- Experience working in ERP systems (e.g.1GX).
