About the role

  • Payroll Analyst supporting payroll processing for U.S. and P.R. employees at Abbott. Ensuring compliance, collaborating with HR, and identifying process improvements in payroll operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Payroll Operations team in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for U.S. and P.R.-based employees.
  • Assist in processing weekly and bi-weekly payroll for U.S. and P.R. employees using payroll systems (e.g., Workday).
  • Review payroll records, payroll inputs, and deductions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay and deductions in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with HR, Benefits, Timekeeping and Data Integrity teams to ensure payroll alignment.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and reports.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
  • Stay informed of changes in federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in a large corporate environment.
  • Strong understanding of payroll systems and timekeeping tools (e.g., Kronos, Workday).
  • Knowledge of U.S. payroll laws and regulations (FLSA, IRS, state tax rules).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC certification (preferred).
  • Experience with multi-state payroll and union/non-union environments (preferred).
