About the role
- Lactation Consultant RN providing lactation support services for mother/infant dyads. Collaborating with clinical teams to develop feeding plans and ensure continuity of care.
Responsibilities
- Provide lactation support and services to breastfeeding mother/infant dyads
- Collaborate with assigned team to develop feeding plans
- Use current evidence to develop feeding plans that address individual feeding issues while respecting the family's breastfeeding goals
- Assess adequacy of breastfeeding and provide interventions and patient education as necessary
- Assess lactation needs by obtaining medical histories and examining patients
- Document physical, psychological, and social factors to develop an individualized plan of care
- Promote continuity of care by communicating with the interdisciplinary team
- Assist mothers of infants who cannot breastfeed
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited BSN program
- Two years of RN experience
- IBCLC Certification by IBLCE
- Current or compact RN licensure in North Carolina
- BLS certification
