Director of Patient Care Services overseeing hospice care quality, operational effectiveness, and compliance in home health and hospice settings. Requires extensive clinical and leadership experience in healthcare management.
Responsibilities
In compliance with Duke HomeCare & Hospice philosophy, goals, policies, mission, and vision, responsible for the provision of quality hospice care services, operational effectiveness and efficiency of the delivery of patient care.
Overall management responsibility for operating the patient services department, including program planning, revenue generation, operational and regulatory analysis, financial analysis, problem resolution, personnel management and performance improvement.
Oversee the Hospice Home Care Program, Partners Program (contracted facilities), Services at Hock Family Pavilion (General Inpatient Facility), GIP Care in Contracted Acute Care Facilities, Volunteer Services, and Bereavement Programs.
Direct the assigned department/service lines and delegate authority/ responsibility to meet goals.
Ensure that reports required by regulatory agencies and internal departments are prepared and submitted within established timeframes.
Prepare and present administrative reports to the Quality and Safety Core Committee.
Analyze the above reports developing corrective action plans for deficiencies as well as focusing on the positive impacts being made within the department and adjust processes appropriately.
Participate in certification, accreditation, and audit procedures, keeping abreast of Federal, local and state laws, and accrediting body guidelines which affect clinical professional practice and hospice care regulations and assures procedural changes are implemented so that the entity remains compliant.
Responsible for overseeing the Performance Improvement Program. Develop and implement policies and procedures supporting the department’s mission and strategically planning for the department’s future relative to the vision, mission, and priorities of the organization.
Requirements
Work requires completion of an accredited Bachelor's degree in a clinical field such as Nursing, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy or a related field, with professional licensure or registration in the clinical field as required.
A minimum six years of clinical experience, including five years of management/supervisory experience in a health care setting, of which at least three years of that experience is in acute care or homecare.
Valid NC Driver’s License; Certification/Licensure as required by regulatory agencies.
Working knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations, including The Joint Commission Standards and Elements of Performance, DFS standards and a working understanding of ICD-10 Coding.
Computer skills include: A thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point).
