About the role

  • Financial Management Analyst overseeing financial operations for Alumni Engagement and Development. Guiding Staff Accountants and managing complex financial transactions and budget processes.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the direct supervisor for the Staff Accountants
  • Oversee financial operations across ~25+ cost centers and 100+ cardholders
  • Ensure compliance with Duke University Financial Services policies
  • Provide strategic oversight and serve as a key decision-maker in resolving complex financial transactions
  • Assist with budget preparation, reporting and variance analysis
  • Review and approve a wide range of financial documents
  • Lead the monthly and year-end financial close processes
  • Supervise direct reports in accordance with Duke’s human resource policies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field
  • CPA is desirable
  • 3 years experience in financial management, cost accounting or a field directly related to specialized area of assignment
  • Experience in leading and guiding staff accountants
  • proficiency in financial systems including Concur, Buy@Duke, and SAP
