Responsibilities
Oversee the application of technical accounting standards and ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulations
Provide guidance on complex accounting issues, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, and financial instruments
Lead the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure the organization is prepared for changes in accounting regulations
Manage the preparation and review of all external financial reports, including quarterly and annual reports (10-Q, 10-K), ensuring accuracy and compliance with SEC requirements
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to ensure timely and accurate filings
Develop, implement, and maintain robust internal control processes to ensure the integrity of financial reporting
Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development
Partner with senior leadership to provide technical accounting insights and support strategic financial planning initiatives
Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors, regulators, and other stakeholders on technical accounting and reporting matters
Stay abreast of industry trends and changes in accounting standards to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive
Lead and participate in special projects and initiatives as required, providing technical accounting expertise and support.
Requirements
B.S. in Accounting + CPA
MBA preferred
15+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance
Expertise in technical accounting and internal control
Demonstrated experience in SEC reporting and SOX compliance
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Insurance and/or health care industry experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with tight deadlines.
