Technical Operations Manager responsible for improving technical infrastructure and leading IT teams at Game Lounge. Ensuring efficient operations and alignment with strategic goals in hybrid environment.
Responsibilities
Assist the Head of IT and Cybersecurity on audit/security related activities.
Implement security best practices across all technical operations, by collaborating with different departments and stakeholders.
Ensure successful delivery of key technical projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and collaboration with relevant teams.
Align all tech projects with business objectives and promote a continuous improvement culture.
Work closely with the Head of Cybersecurity & IT in building roadmaps for the departments.
Proactively identify gaps across the department and address them in a timely manner.
Ensure optimal performance, security, and scalability of all internal systems and infrastructure.
Oversee and support the Internal IT team, ensuring effective management of network infrastructure, end-user devices, software applications, and employee support services.
Continuously improve IT operations through process standardization, performance metrics, and automation of repetitive tasks.
Act as a hands on contributor when it comes to projects, technologies, and anything IT related.
Manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers, including contract negotiation and performance evaluation.
Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for adoption with AI first thinking.
Standardize documentation, knowledge base entries, and self-service support channels for business continuity and operational transparency.
Work closely with DevOps Lead/engineers and development teams across the company to ensure streamlined deployment processes, improved scalability, and enhanced system reliability.
Provide guidance and expertise on the DevOps strategy, focusing on CI/CD pipeline optimisation, infrastructure as code, and deployment automation.
Manage cloud cost across production systems.
Manage the incident management process together with the Head Of Cybersecurity & IT to ensure that the process is implemented and adhered to across the business including implementation of monitoring and use of Pagerduty.
Work with the executive team to develop and align the technical strategy with overall business objectives, focusing on innovation and operational excellence.
Mentor and empower IT and DevOps teams to achieve operational excellence, technical innovation, and strong cross-departmental collaboration.
Cultivate a positive, learning-oriented culture that encourages ownership, accountability, and professional development.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
6+ years of experience in technical operations, IT management, or a similar leadership role.
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, DevOps practices, cybersecurity, and system integration.
Proven experience in leading technical teams, managing complex projects, and developing and implementing technical strategies.
Good knowledge of domain management, DNS, SSL certificates, and related digital asset security.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to handle complex technical challenges and make informed decisions.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and stakeholders.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Fluent in English.
Good to Have: Experience in an igaming or digital marketing environment.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements such as GDPR.
Advanced certifications in IT management, DevOps, or cybersecurity (e.g., ITIL, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CISSP).
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and modern DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, Jenkins).
Knowledge of SEO principles and digital marketing to support domain management strategies.
Additional language skills, particularly in Maltese or other European languages.
