About the role

  • Prepare and submit timely federal, state, and local payroll tax deposits using MasterTax software
  • Review new client setups for accuracy, including tax codes, account formatting, start dates, and payroll schedules
  • Balance and verify conversion data against source documents such as tax returns and payroll records
  • Assist clients in registering for payroll tax accounts and ensure electronic filing access is established
  • Process POA forms as required for tax account access and compliance
  • Prepare and file payroll tax returns, including W-2 coordination and amendment processing
  • Conduct periodic audits to identify discrepancies in taxable wages, FICA variances, and W-2 data
  • Monitor and respond to correspondence from tax agencies, resolving issues promptly and professionally
  • Maintain and update annual state unemployment rates for client accounts
  • Assist with reconciliation payrolls and variance resolution during quarter-end and year-end reporting
  • Work closely with Implementation, Payroll, and HRIS teams to support cross-functional initiatives
  • Deliver proactive, professional communication and support to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and data accuracy
  • Participate in internal and external training to maintain technical competence and industry knowledge
  • Act as a backup for teammates and contribute to overall team service excellence

Requirements

  • 3+ years of Payroll Service Bureau experience (Required)
  • MasterTax experience (Required)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance
  • High degree of Excel proficiency (formulas, pivot tables, V-lookups)
  • Ability to gather and analyze data with attention to detail
  • Experience working directly with clients and Sales teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
