About the role
- Work on EO/IR systems at various stages of their lifecycle: requirements capture, definition, development, modelling, manufacture, test, and verification
- Apply and improve systems engineering processes across the full lifecycle
- Collaborate with integrated project teams to design, build, and deliver EO/IR equipment
- Contribute to programmes such as Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP), Laser Direct Energy Weapons (Dragonfire), IRCM systems, laser target designators and ranging systems
- Drive continual learning and improvement across the UK engineering community and act as a change agent for systems engineering
- May be assigned as Project Engineering Lead and matched to projects based on skills and experience
- Role subject to pre-employment security screening in line with BPSS and potential NSV (SC/DV)
Requirements
- Experience applying systems engineering within an EO/IR environment
- Proven track record in systems engineering: requirements capture and management; system definition and development; modelling and analysis; verification and validation; full engineering lifecycle application
- Domain specialisms: EO/IR systems and technologies; control systems and navigation; imaging, detection, and tracking
- Technical expertise with systems engineering methods, tools, and processes
- Strong numerical, analytical, and critical-thinking skills supporting “systems thinking”
- Eligibility for UK security vetting: BPSS required; may require Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV)
