About the role

  • Prepare and analyze assigned tax calculations and tax provisions for specified assignments
  • Address related disclosures on relevant bases of accounting and prepare/review internal management reporting and external disclosures
  • Assist in analyzing changes in accounting principles or tax law
  • Prepare federal and state/provincial assigned tax returns, supporting documentation, and disclosures
  • Assist with technical review of transactions and tax law change analysis
  • Support state/provincial premium returns, related accruals, inquiries and audits as assigned
  • Prepare Sales and Use Tax Returns as assigned
  • Assist managers with IRS and/or state tax inquiries
  • Prepare and record approved journal entries (as empowered)
  • Support requests from internal and external auditors with manager approval
  • Participate in goal setting, performance management, coaching, and performance appraisals for assigned area
  • Participate in ongoing professional education and deliver accurate, timely results

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • Master’s degree in Tax or commensurate education/experience desired
  • C.P.A. (Certified Public Accountant) or similar designation
  • Typically, 3+ years of experience with at least 3+ years dealing with corporate tax and/or relevant issues
  • Basic knowledge of financial accounting and reporting
  • Knowledge of computation of Federal taxable income and Federal tax
  • Industry specific tax rules, taxation of transactions, state, provincial, local & premium taxation concepts and procedures
  • Understanding of technology that supports all tax functions
  • Familiarity with partnership taxation
  • Solid technology skills with ability to analyze and improve processes
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient in managing workflow and deadlines
  • Solid research skills
  • May require experience with tax accounting and reporting on IFRS, USGAAP, NAIC, Modified NAIC, and Bermuda Statutory bases
