About the role

  • Create and review piping designs, drawings, specifications and other engineering deliverables
  • Evaluate, select and adapt standard techniques, procedures and criteria for engineering tasks
  • Perform conventional aspects of design engineering and analysis, acting as document originator
  • Establish detailed designs and performance specifications to fulfil assigned requirements
  • Plan and carry out successive steps, handle problems with general guidance, and prepare progress reports
  • Responsible for meeting discipline cost and schedule requirements in production of deliverables
  • Recommend changes in plans and estimated cost when necessary
  • Review vendor documents and conduct problem solving for new and varied technical problems
  • Develop alternative solutions, identify risks and benefits, and exercise professional judgement
  • Provide technical input and support to proposals and may deliver small-scale consultancy projects
  • Develop specifications, calculations, reports and technical requisitions
  • Interpret specifications, investigate difficulties, and liaise with team and clients as required
  • Hybrid UK role supporting Systems Integration across UK projects with occasional client-site travel

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (minimum) or Master's degree (preferred) in engineering discipline
  • Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates
  • Working level competence in the application of standards, processes and procedures
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards
  • Ability to create functional and cost-effective designs and processes that meet complex specification requirements with little support
  • Regularly assigned ownership of conceptual design
  • Experienced user of relevant specialist engineering software
  • Must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check
  • Hybrid work pattern with Tuesday and Wednesday based in Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines; occasional travel to client site as required
