About the role
- Senior Liferay Software Engineer joining the team to design and optimize customer-facing Liferay-based systems. Delivering scalable solutions across cloud-hosted and on-premise environments while guiding external teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions using the **Liferay Digital Experience Platform (DXP)**
- Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to define and deliver new features aligned with business requirements
- Guide or mentor external development teams, ensuring adherence to **best practices and architectural standards**
- Contribute to **system architecture**, **code quality**, and **process improvements** throughout the SDLC
- Participate in the deployment and management of Liferay-based platforms in **cloud (AWS/Azure)** and **on-premise** infrastructures
Requirements
- **3+ years** of experience working with **Liferay DXP (7.x)** including portal development (JSR-286), customization, and third-party integration
- Deep understanding of **Liferay architecture**, including module development (OSGi), **service builder**, **theming**, and **permissions framework**
- Experience in deploying Liferay in **cloud** and **on-prem** environments, with familiarity in scalability and performance tuning
- Strong **Java (v8 to v21+)** experience, including modern Java features and legacy system support
- Hands-on experience with **Spring**, **Hibernate**, **RESTful APIs**, **CI/CD pipelines**, and **Elasticsearch**
- Familiarity with frontend technologies used in Liferay such as **JSP**, **AlloyUI**, and modern JS frameworks (e.g. React)
- Basic Liferay administration knowledge (user/role management, configuration, performance monitoring)
- Experience in **customer-facing, mission-critical systems** that handle **high traffic** and require **elastic scaling**
- Solid grasp of **Clean Code**, **Clean Architecture**, and maintainable development principles
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proven experience working within **Agile teams**
