About the role

  • Senior Interior Designer leading and mentoring design teams in healthcare projects. Collaborating with architectural teams to develop innovative designs that meet client needs.

Responsibilities

  • Help lead and mentor colleagues within the interior design team.
  • Work collaboratively with architectural teams, conceptualizing, developing, and documenting varying aspects of interior design of a project.
  • Manage projects and schedules by overseeing administrative aspects of the projects.
  • Participate in development of the program and other pre-design efforts.
  • Participate in workshop discussions and activities with clients to ascertain cultural and desired project outcomes.
  • Oversee and lead teams in developing space planning, block planning, and adjacency diagrams in coordination with building program.
  • Develop the interior design, material palette and FFE through sketches, digital/BIM models, diagrams, and other visual formats to express the design intent.
  • Ensure design complies with building codes, sustainability requirements such as LEED, AODA requirements, and accessibility guidelines as required per project type.
  • Develop interior design in accordance with cost parameters and ensure interior design intent is maintained through documentation and construction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Interior Design
  • Member of ARIDO/IDC; NCIDQ Registered
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in interior design, Healthcare experience required
  • Evidence of experience in the Ontarian Healthcare planning and design environment, including Ministry of Health various capital planning approval stages
  • Experience in Alternate Finance Project (AFP – P3) delivery methodology, be it in PDC or Proponent role, considered an asset, as well as Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) experience
  • Project Management certification preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and application of accessibility codes and applicable building codes
  • Thorough understanding of all phases of architectural document production through construction administration and the relationship between drawings and specifications
  • Ability to participate in multiple projects and multiple teams simultaneously
  • Ability to create project plans and schedules
  • Accountability to project profitability
  • Strong client management skills and internal team managerial skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Requires understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Revit, AutoCAD; Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUP, Newforma, Bluebeam.
