About the role

  • Lead the annual budgeting process across all practice sites and central functions.
  • Manage the quarterly reforecasts process to reflect latest trading performance and business assumptions.
  • Consolidate site-level budgets and forecasts into UK&I-level reporting, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Provide insightful variance analysis, identifying key drivers of performance versus budget and prior periods.
  • Develop and refine financial models to support scenario planning, capital investments, and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with operations teams to interpret financial data and improve commercial decision-making.
  • Deliver clear, concise management information packs for senior leadership and the board.
  • Support performance tracking at both site and regional levels, highlighting opportunities for margin improvement and cost efficiency.
  • Monitor KPIs (e.g., revenue per vet, practice utilisation, cost-to-serve, EBITDA margins) and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in forecasting tools, templates, and processes.
  • Implement automation and enhanced data analytics where possible to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Build strong relationships with regional directors, practice managers, and central support teams.
  • Provide financial guidance and challenge to operational stakeholders in a collaborative and constructive way.
  • Project Work as allocated by the UK&I Finance Director and CFO

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 5+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Proven track record in FP&A, preferably within a multisite environment
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling
  • Excellent analytical and Excel / financial systems skills (experience with Power BI a plus)
  • Ability to communicate financial insights to non-finance stakeholders
  • Proactive, commercially minded, and detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Experience in private equity–backed or fast-growing environments (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of veterinary, medical, or similar clinical service operations (Desirable)
